Front Panel options

The Front Panel options are found in the Options dialog under the Front Panel category. These options provide the means to change some defaults to the Front Panel of VIs. Some of these options edit keys and values in the LabVIEW configuration file. The key that is changed is listed in parenthesis next to each description. These options include:

General

• Changing the Connector pane terminals to default to required or recommended (reqdTermsByDefault)
• Using the localized decimal point (useLocaleDecimalPt)
• Using numbers 1 through 9 on the icons of new VIs (UseNumbersForNewVIIcons)
• Opening the control editor with a double-click on controls rather than finding the Block Diagram terminal (doubleClickToEditControl)
• Changing the Blink delay time used by the Blinking property of Controls (blinkSpeed)

Tip Strips and Labeling

• Toggle whether to show Tip Strips on Controls (showTipStringsOnFPControls)
• Toggle locking of Label location (DefaultLabelLockFP)
• Changing the default Label location for Controls {Classic, Top-left, Top-middle, Top-right, Right-top, Right-middle, Right-bottom, Bottom-right, Bottom-middle, Bottom-left, Left-bottom, Left-middle, Left-top} (DefaultLabelPositionFP)
• Changing the default Label location for Indicators {Classic, Top-left, Top-middle, Top-right, Right-top, Right-middle, Right-bottom, Bottom-right, Bottom-middle, Bottom-left, Left-bottom, Left-middle, Left-top} (DefaultLabelPositionIndFP)

Control Style for New VIs

• Changing the default style for new controls placed {Modern, Classic, System, Silver} (defaultControlStyle)

Front Panel Grid

• Showing the Front Panel grid (SnapGridShowsOnFrontPanel)
• Changing the grid spacing (SnapGridFrontPanelSize)
• Changing the grid contrast with the background (SnapGridFrontPanelContrast)
• Toggling the snap to grid (SnapGridSnapsOnFrontPanel)
• Toggling whether to automatically resize object to the gird on drop (SnapGridResizeWhenDropping)
• Changing the grid style {Dots, Lines, Graph Paper} (SnapGridDrawAsLines)
