LabVIEW NXG
LabVIEW NXG (LabVIEW Next Generation) is a development environment based on the NXG platform developed by NI. It is a re-implementation of LabVIEW that was supposed to replace LabVIEW (aka. "LabVIEW classic") on a long-term basis. The first public release of LabVIEW NXG 1.0 was in May 2017. On November 23rd, 2020, NI officially announced the discontinuation of LabVIEW NXG and their commitment to LabVIEW going forward[1]. The final release of LabVIEW NXG 5.1 was in January 2021.
Reception
LabVIEW NXG was received with a mixture of excitement, disbelieve, and confusion among the LabVIEW community with raising frustrations and concerns over the years. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]
When LabVIEW NXG was ultimately discontinued, the announcement was received positively and with great relieve by the community. Although, some expressed their concerns for the future of LabVIEW as a whole. [14]
