Purpose of this page and editing guideline

So this page, IMO, should be a static history of the event with links to video recordings and also a description of the event with the listed schedule. For now, we can link to the external schedule, however that cannot be relied upon to be there in the future. LabVIEWWiki is built upon content that lives beyond the current event and can stand as a historical reference--MichaelAivaliotis (talk) 07:43, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

@MichaelAivaliotis: I agree. I will add back the titles, presenters, and abstracts similar to the way I have them on the NIWeek and CLA Summit pages. Then, when we get the videos and other media, we can add them here. --Q (talk) 12:17, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

History and Background

I would like to expand on the history. All this originated from DSH Workshops deciding to hold virtual events instead of the planned on-site workshops. --Joerg.hampel (talk) 15:54, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

  • @Joerg.hampel, I added more background to the first paragraph and added a Special Thanks section. Is that what you had in mind? Feel free to improve it if you want. --Q (talk) 16:22, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
  • @Q, thanks for doing the work! I was literally meaning that I could do that, I didn't want to impose on you. I'll add a bit more "history". --Joerg.hampel (talk) 16:28, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
  • @Q, can you please check on my changes and help with the seemingly missing reflist template? --Joerg.hampel (talk) 17:15, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Placement of Videos

So, I'm not sure I like placing all of the videos embedded into one page like we've been doing. I'm not sure on the best organization or the best way to help people to find videos, link to presentation or example source, and to find other resources. I'm brainstorming here, but what if each presentation has its own page?

Pros:

  • It would be less to load (for those that have slow internet, the heavily embedded pages are slow)
  • It would be easy to add other links
  • Presenters could link and reference their own presentation
  • Presentations could be categorized by topic

Cons:

  • A lot more navigation
  • Lots of work to set up pages (rebuttal: we could create a presentation template)

Other thoughts? --Q (talk) 16:01, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

  • @Q, I like the idea of separate pages (with the help of templates), if the added effort needed allows for it. --Joerg.hampel (talk) 16:28, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
@Q: Separate pages make sense. These long pages are painful to load. If all videos will be on YouTube eventually, maybe we could also create and add a link to the entire playlist for convenience. --Logmanoriginal (talk) 18:19, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
  • I typically create a Youtube Playlist on the LabVIEWWiki account. However I also agree that separate pages for each video is best. I approve of this :). There is zero effort to do this. The dedicated page can embed the video if it's on youtube.--MichaelAivaliotis (talk) 23:52, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
